Tangerine advanced Store360 Beacon Technology Deployed at FamilyMart in Japan

Tokyo, Japan – July 8, 2025 – TangerineInc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Kiyoto Hirai) is pleased to announce that its Store360 proprietary beacon technology (hereafter referred to as “Store360 Beacon”) has been officially deployed across FamilyMart stores, operated byFamilyMart Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO:Kensuke Hosomi).

1. Background

FamilyMart, serving approximately 15 million customers daily, has long recognized the media value of its extensive store network and continues to lead Japan’s retail media market through innovative and forward-thinking initiatives. Notably, FamilyMart has developed a powerful digital media ecosystem consisting of:

  • FamilyMartVision, a nationwide in-store digital signage network deployed across     approximately 10,400 locations (as of May 2025), and
  • FamiPay, the official app with over 25 million downloads (as of May     2025).

Together, these platforms form a cutting-edge “Customer LinkPlatform” that serves as the digital infrastructure for delivering highly targeted messaging to shoppers at the right time and place. This advanced advertising model has attracted growing interest both domestically and internationally.

Tangerine shares FamilyMart’s vision of enhancing customer experiences by synchronizing digital signage with mobile apps and maximizing the impact of real-time app-based advertising. In alignment with this goal, Tangerine have been working to contribute through our offline data platform, Store360, which integrates with our advanced beacon technology to enable seamless and personalized customer engagement.

Following multiple rounds of technical evaluation and real-world campaigns in FY2024, our beacon and Store360 platform demonstrated higher detection accuracy and delivery performance than standard iBeacon-based systems. As a result, Store360 Beacons have been deployed in approximately 13,000FamilyMart locations nationwide, except for some stores. Tangerine will pursue full-scale adoption of Store360 to maximize value for FamilyMart customers.

2. Advantages of  Store360 and Store360 Beacons

The beacon devices deployed in FamilyMart stores supports not only standard iBeacon protocols but also Tangerine’s proprietary “flxBeacon”protocol, which is patented in Japan. This hybrid structure enables significant performance improvements when combined with our Store360 platform.

Compared to conventional beacon services, the flxBeacon delivers up to 16 times greater detection accuracy (based on internal benchmarks). While typical iBeacon-based systems can detect only 5–30% of mobile app visitors, Tangerine’s technology enables reach rates of up to 80% of such customers, substantially expanding the impact of app-based in-store engagement.
